Former All Black Rudi Wulf is quitting Toulon to rejoin the Blues for next year's Super Rugby campaign.

The 27-year-old winger, who is equally at home at fullback, quit the Blues for France last summer but is heading back to Auckland after agreeing a two-year contract with his former employers.

"To be returning to play amongst old mates in a team I so enjoyed being a part of is really exciting for me," Wulf told The New Zealand Herald. "I can't wait to get back on the field in a Blues jersey."

Unsurprisingly, Blues coach Pat Lam is excited by the return of a player who established himself as one of the most exciting backs in New Zealand during his 43 appearances for the club between 2005 and 2010.

"Rudi was a real star performer for the Blues," he said. "He is a dynamic player, full of speed and skill and an outstanding team man. We were so sorry to see him head offshore last year and to have him come back to the Blues is fantastic news for us."
