Ospreys winger Tom Prydie is on course for a return to action in September having undergone surgery on knee and shoulder problems.

The 19-year-old Wales international, who made the last of his four Test appearances last summer, saw his World Cup dreams shattered earlier this year when he suffered a knee ligament injury during the Ospreys' clash with Glasgow at the Liberty Stadium in March. He subsequently underwent an ACL reconstruction that was expected to sideline him for six eight months before a scheduled routine operation on a troublesome shoulder in May.

"Tom is eight weeks down the line from shoulder surgery and 14 weeks from ACL surgery and is recovering as expected, but there is still a lot of hard work ahead for him as we need to get him as big, strong and fast as he needs to be to play again," explained Ospreys physio Chris Towers who is overseeing Prydie's rehabilitation.

"We are starting to up the ante in his rehab programme, but we are still looking at him returning to training towards the end of September, with a return to play date to be set after that point."

Prydie became the youngest Wales international of all-time last season, making his Test debut at the age of 18 years and 25 days against Italy during the Six Nations. He went on to score a try against South Africa in Cardiff before touring New Zealand and featuring in both appointments with the All Blacks.
