France prop Fabien Barcella is poised to re-sign with Biarritz after turning down a lucrative offer from their Top 14 Orange rivals Toulon.

The 28-year-old - a replacement in France's Rugby World Cup final defeat to New Zealand - is likely to put pen to paper on a new deal next week, despite Biarritz's recent domestic troubles.

The Basque giants put one foot outside the relegation zone with Friday's 15-6 victory over Agen, and they are now set to be boosted by Barcella's new commitment.

"It's not official yet, but I'd say it's looking good, it should be on Monday," he told Sud Ouest. "I will extend for two or three years. Toulon gave me a big offer, but I did not want to leave."
