Bordeaux-Begles have unveiled former England flanker Joe Worsley as their new defence coach.

Bordeaux, the surprise package of the 2011-12 Top 14 Orange campaign, finished eighth in the standings with many pundits tipping them for relegation. Former France and Wasps hooker Raphael Ibanez has since taken charge ahead of next season and he has wasted no time in bolstering his backroom staff with the recruitment of Worsley.

The former flanker has 78-caps for England but called time on his career back in November due to a neck injury. This is his first professional foray into coaching and Ibanez is looking forward to utilising the expertise that Worsley will bring to the role.

"He is someone who is hugely competent," Ibanez said. "I played with him for five years at Wasps and could already see his qualities as a defender and the ideas he had concerning that sector of the game."
