The Highlanders are looking for a repeat of their performance with which they hammered the Sharks 34-18 in Durban last week, but have had to make a couple of injury-enforced changes.

Trent Renata takes Osborne's left wing spot, while John Hardie replaces Shane Christie as openside flanker and lock Josh Bekhuis replaces Jarrad Hoeta in the starting XV.

Matias Diaz has joined the team in South Africa to fill Millar's seat on the reserves bench.

Highlanders: Ben Smith (co-captain); Richard Buckman, Malakai Fekitoa, Shaun Treeby, Trent Renata; Lima Sopoaga, Aaron Smith; Nasi Manu (co-captain), John Hardie, Elliot Dixon; Joe Wheeler, Josh Bekhuis; Chris King, Liam Coltman, Kane Hames. Replacements: Brayden Mitchell, Matias Diaz, Ma'afu Fia, Jarrad Hoeata, Shane Christie, Fumiaki Tanaka, Jason Emery, Phil Burleigh.
