Canada v Georgia
Nine weeks for Canadian gouger

Canadian hooker Ray Barkwill has been suspended for nine weeks for making contact with the eye of an opponent during last weekend's bad-tempered Test match against Georgia in Bucharest.

Barkwill was cited and appeared before judicial officer Roger Morris, who upheld the charge but considered it a low-end breach of the law, which usually carries an entry level 12 week ban.

The hooker, who is currently without a club, received nine weeks due to a previously clean record and aggravating factors. His ban applies at all levels.

From the same fixture, Romania's Mihai Macovei received a six week suspension for striking an opponent in the face and Jamie Cudmore was cleared to play after being accused of making contact with an opponent's face with an open hand.
