Scotland fly-half Duncan Weir will miss the Six Nations due to injury.

The Herald reports Weir requires surgery on an arm injury he picked up against Edinburgh a fortnight ago. The prognosis of three months out will see Weir miss the forthcoming championship.

Glasgow coach Gregor Townsend said: "I would like to think it won't be the end of his season, but I think it rules out the Six Nations. With a bicep injury you are talking months rather than weeks."

Finn Russell is expected to hold on to the No.10 jersey for the Six Nations but Weir was next in line for the shirt. He played a key role in their sole triumph in last year's championship when he dropped the goal that beat Italy.
