Sam Bruce chats with Scott Higginbotham about the Rebels upcoming season

The Melbourne Rebels have named back-rowers Scott Fuglistaller and Scott Higginbotham as co-captains for the 2015 season.

Higginbotham was tasked with the job for the 2014 season, while Fuglistaller slipped into the role for the side's final match of the season against the Bulls when Higginbotham was unavailable.

Rebels coach Tony McGahan was excited to announce the new captains and believes both players complimented each other and will both be strong examples for the playing group.

"It is very exciting to announce both Scott Fuglistaller and Scott Higginbotham as captains today," McGahan said. "Both players command respect within the playing group, and set a strong and consistent example to the playing squad.

"Scott Fuglistaller has had an enormous impact since moving to Melbourne two years ago. He really drives the professionalism and standards of the group, and is a wonderful conduit between players and staff as well as a passionate and very talented back rower.

"Scott Higginbotham brings extensive experience gained through a challenging first full season in the role. He is a wonderful ambassador for rugby I Victoria, and leads through his actions on the field; he will enjoy having some support in the role, and everybody at the club will benefit from these appointments."

The Rebels will kick off their season away against the Crusaders in Christchurch next Friday.
