JC Janse van Rensburg is returning home to South Africa having signed a two-year contract with the Stormers. The powerful former Lions captain, currently in his third season with Top 14 club Bayonne, will replace France-bound Steven Kitshoff.

Janse van Rensburg, 29, played more than 50 Super Rugby matches for the Lions and well over 50 Currie Cup matches for the Golden Lions, and he toured Europe with the Springboks in 2012.

"I think I'm a better player for my experience in France, but I'm looking forward to returning home and joining a talented an ambitious team like the DHL Stormers," Janse van Rensburg said.

"I cannot wait to make the move to Cape Town and I look forward to contributing to the success of the Stormers. "I still have plenty of ambitions in terms of winning trophies [in South Africa] and perhaps also playing at a higher level and I couldn't think of a better province and union than Western Province to achieve those goals."

Western province director of rugby Gert Smal said the loose-head prop would add big-game experience to the Stormers' front-row, noting before he left South Africa he was pushing hard for Springboks selection and I expect him to continue in that vein".
