Bristol Rugby have announced the signing of England Saxons and Harlequins fly half Adrian Jarvis on a two year contract.

The 24-year-old Jarvis, who will join his new club in the summer, has been a regular for the Stoop outfit over the past couple of seasons and has amassed over 500 points in his time at the club.

A former England U21 international, he was part of the England Saxons squad that competed in the 2007 Churchill Cup as well as the 2008 Six Nations fixture against Italy.

Bristol Rugby Head Coach Richard Hill was pleased to have clinched Jarvis' signature as he told the club's website on Tuesday morning:

"I've gone on record in recent weeks to say that we are looking to develop our attacking game having focussed on defence and set piece since returning to the Guinness Premiership."

"Adrian is a fly half who will help us to achieve that as he's not just a goalkicker, he's also a ball handling fly off who is not afraid to move it around."

"He's a quality player who has represented England Saxons and, at just 24, he's still got his best years ahead of him despite already having clocked up a lot of experience in the Premiership."

Adrian himself spoke today of why he's decided to make the move.

"Bristol's a very traditional rugby club, a club that's right in the heart of its community. That's something that you don't really get in London and something that appealed to me."

"I spoke in depth to Hilly (Richard Hill) and he explained the brand of rugby that he's trying to play here and the role I could play and I found the prospect really exciting."

"I've been very happy at Quins but, at this stage of my career, I think I need a change and I think Bristol is going to be a good place for me to live and play my rugby."

Jarvis made his first debut for Harlequins in a 29-25 victory over Newcastle Falcons on January 4th 2004, since then he has made over 68 appearances for the club and scored 565 points.

He was a key member of the England U21 side throughout the 2003/04 season, as well as the Quins side that won the inaugural Zurich A League. He later went on to be part of the England Saxons Squad that competed in the 2007 Churchill Cup and the 2008 friendly against Italy.

"I am very disappointed to lose Adrian, but we believe it is a step in the right direction for him," said Dean Richards, Harlequins Director of Rugby.

"He has been an invaluable member of the team for Harlequins over the past few years and although we are sad to see him go, I am sure he will continue to do well under Richard Hill. We wish him all the best in his future."
