Tasman's New Zealand Maori rugby prop, Ben May, has signed a three-year deal with Waikato beginning next year.

May, 25, will play for Tasman in this year's Air New Zealand Cup competition but will join the Mooloo men from next year. In the 2008 Rebel Sport Super 14 competition May was drafted to the Chiefs where he played a total of 12 games for the franchise.

May has 15 provincial caps for Tasman. While he predominately plays at tighthead, the 1.93m prop can also change sides of the scrum to play loosehead.

Waikato Rugby Union Chief Executive Graham Bowen said "we are excited with the signing of Ben. He is a powerful, dynamic young prop who will be a great asset to our player stocks for seasons to come. We wish him a successful season with Tasman and look forward to seeing him in red, yellow and black next year."
