Profile

Renowned for its stirring atmosphere, Kingsholm, the home of Gloucester, is one of the most famous grounds in English club rugby. Indeed, while it is the smallest venue selected for the 2015 Rugby World Cup, it is likely to prove one of the most popular because of the noise generated by 'The Shed', the stadium's notoriously raucous North Stand.

The ground, which was built in 1891, currently has a capacity of 16,500 but that will have risen to 19,700 in time for the 2015 Rugby World Cup.

Kingsholm was, of course, is not unfamiliar with the tournament, having been utilised during the pool stages in 1991 for the clash between New Zealand and the United States. More recently, it was also used for Russia's meeting with Italy 'A' during the 2011 Churchill Cup.
