Profile

The traditional home of rugby in Northland, Okara Park has been upgraded in time for this year's Rugby World Cup and now boasts a capacity of 18,000 following the construction of a new grandstand, the Northland Events Centre, which has turned the stadium into a multi-purpose facility.

The venue has staged a number of international games down through the years, including the 1998 Test between the New Zealand Maori and Tonga. Northland have also previously welcomed the British & Irish Lions to the ground, as well as a number of other touring sides.

Okara Park, which is located just two kilometres from the city centre, is scheduled to host two games in this year's World Cup, both of which will feature Tonga, who will take on Canada as well as Japan in Whangarei.
