The ground, that replaced the Boet Erasmus Stadium as the major arena in the Eastern Cape, will serve as the long-term home for the Southern Kings following their introduction to the Super Rugby competiion.
It hosted its first Test match in 2011 when the Springboks played host to the All Blacks during the Tri-Nations and it is also home of the South African leg of the HSBC Sevens World Series.
