'Rassie' Erasmus played for the Springboks 36 times as a marauding flanker between 1997 and 2001.
He also played for the Golden Lions, Freestate Cheetahs and Cats before moving into coaching.
A successful stint as Western Province director of coaching, propelled him into the reckoning for a role with the Springboks following the 2011 World Cup.
In January 2012 he announced that he would be leaving Western Province to pursue 'other opportunities', sparking speculation of a role with the Springboks. And this speculation was realised in April 2012 when he was announced as the Boks' new general manager.
