Servat made his French debut against Ireland in 2004, subsequently playing all of their games in a Six Nations Grand Slam.
Competing with Dimitri Szarzewski and the more experienced Raphael Ibanez for some time, Servat has slipped in and out of the international setup. He did not play a Test between 2005 and 2008 and failed to make the squad for the 2007 Rugby World Cup, but was handed a recall in 2009 by coach Marc Lievremont.
He played both of France's Tests against the All Blacks in the summer, before starting a victory over South Africa and defeat to the All Blacks in November. Since then, Servat has established himself as Lievremont's undisputed first-choice hooker and one of the world's premier players in his position.
Servat was an injury doubt going into the 2011 World Cup but recovered in time to play a key role in their charge to the final of the tournament.
Upon arriving back at Toulouse, rumours were circulating that Servat was in line for a move to Toulon. But following Yannick Bru's appointment as France's forwards coach, Servat announced that he would step into the void at the end of the season.
At club level he joined Toulouse from his first club, Mazères-Cassagne, in 1998 and has tasted Top 14 and Heineken Cup victory.
