Tennent was capped twice for Scotland between 1909-10 and later embarked on a first-class cricket career that also led to international recognition.
The most notable game of his career came against France in 1910 when he crossed for three tries in his side's 27-0 victory at Inverleith. The previous year, Scotland travelled to the Richmond Athletic Ground where they saw off the challenge of England thanks largely to a brace from Tennent.
