1981
South Africa racked up a sixth successive win on their controversial tour of New Zealand by edging out Otago 17-13 in Dunedin.

The match should have been the Springboks' seventh game of the tour but earlier clash with Waikato in Hamilton on July 25 had to be abandoned after a reported 350 anti-apartheid protestors staged a pitch invasion.

Four days after their win in Otago, the tourists were beaten 14-9 by New Zealand in Christchurch. They levelled the series with an impressive 24-12 win in Wellington but the All Blacks clinched the series with a dramatic 25-22 victory in Auckland.

1934
Australia claimed a famous 25-11 victory over New Zealand at the Sydney Cricket Ground. It was a new record margin of victory for the Wallabies over their bitter rivals.

Cyril Towers grabbed two tries with Owen Bridle and Doug McLean also touching down. However, captain and fullback Alec Ross was the star of the show for the Wallabies with three penalties and two conversions.

1903
Frank Stout starred for the Lions as they claimed a fine 15-3 win over Pretoria. The England forward not only grabbed a try, he also kicked a conversion and a penalty. Stout played a total of 14 times for England between 1897 and 1905 and also appeared a total of seven times for the Lions across two tours - the 1899 trip to Australia and the visit to South Africa in 1903.

1891
The Lions ran in 13 tries during a 25-0 rout of Pietermaritzburg. Randolph Aston and Edward Bromet both bagged hat-tricks. It proved to be the biggest win of the Lions' inaugural tour of South Africa.

1956
South Africa were surprisingly held to a 3-3 draw by Taranaki at New Plymouth, in what was the Springboks' final provincial game before the third Test against the All Blacks.

1965
The Springboks failed to impress in a scrappy 14-11 victory over North Auckland at the newly opened Okara Park in Whangarei.
