Felipe Contepomi has been handed the captain's armband for Argentina's upcoming tour of the northern hemisphere. Recently-returned from injury, Contepomi will link up with a 24-man training squad just outside Paris at the end of October.

Now at Toulon, having left Leinster at the end of last season, Contepomi takes the reins for Tests against England, Wales and Scotland. Natal Sharks fly-half Juan Martin Hernandez is conspicuous in his absence from the squad, but is expected to be in coach Santiago Phelan's plans for their opening tour fixture at Twickenham on November 14.

He is likely to be joined by Harlequins centre Gonzalo Tiesi, Leicester prop Marcos Ayerza and London Irish scrum-half Alfredo Lalanne.

The Pumas are definitely without Stade Francais flanker Juan Manuel Leguizamon due to injury. Players from Buenos Aires' Top 14 competition have also not been included in this preliminary squad as the final of the competition does not take place until October 31.
