Scotland boss Andy Robinson is nursing a number of injuries as his side begin preparations for their November Tests.

Scotland kick-off their November series against Fiji on November 14 and Robinson's main concerns are prolific fullback Chris Paterson and Gloucester prop Alasdair Dickinson. Paterson has been on a drip to clear up a foot infection and was ruled out of Edinburgh's Magners League loss to the Dragons on Sunday.

"They say you should just get five courses [of antibiotics], and he's had four. But it is better. It's probably good for him that there's nothing for a week," said Edinburgh coach Rob Moffatt. "He'll need that time to get back into training. It is his right foot, which doesn't help."

Paterson is expected to train this week, but Dickinson's injury has forced Robinson to call Edinburgh's Kyle Traynor in to the squad.

"Ally will be going to Spire Murrayfield Hospital for some isokinetic testing as part of his assessment process following the shoulder injury he sustained last month," Scotland team doctor James Robson said. "This testing basically involves exercising the shoulder in various positions."

Winger Nikki Walker and centre Ben Cairns are also being monitored, with Cairns set to miss training on Tuesday with a knee injury. Walker is recovering from a facial injury picked up in the Ospreys' draw with Glasgow and is set to return to training.
