Kelly Brown has swapped Glasgow for Saracens

- Saracens have signed Scotland international Kelly Brown from Glasgow Warriors.
Brown will join the Guinness Premiership club at the end of the season and is a like-for-like replacement for the outgoing Springbok Wikus van Heerden, who will re-join the Golden Lions in time for the Currrie Cup. Brown has 30 Test caps for Scotland, having made his debut in 2005.
"We are delighted Kelly has decided to join our club," Saracens director of rugby Brendan Venter said. "He is a proven international who is in his prime. On the field, he is precisely the kind of big, dominant loose forward we have been seeking, and off the field, he is precisely the type of outstanding character who fits our culture."
The Warriors have however retained the services of Scotland international openside John Barclay on a two-year deal. Coach Sean Lineen also paid tribute to the departing Brown.
"Kelly is in a rich vein of form at the moment and will be a loss to us. We had hoped to retain his services but understand his reasons for moving south," he said. "Even though Kelly is moving on, I know he'll give everything to help Glasgow win something this season."
- Perpignan prop Jerome Schuster has been banned for two weeks following an ERC disciplinary hearing into his clash with Denis Leamy during December 20's Heineken Cup defeat to Munster.
Schuster was referred by the match citing commissioner, Englishman Alan Mansell, after striking the Irish side's number eight, Denis Leamy, with his head. Independent judicial officer Lorne Crerar ruled that the incident was of a low-end level of seriousness and, taking into account any mitigating and aggravating factors and the player's previous clean record, imposed the ban until February 1 - two weeks shorter than the IRB recommended sanction for a low-end offence of this nature.
- The Stormers will hand debuts to their high-profile Springbok signings Bryan Habana and Jaque Fourie in a trial game against the Western Force at Newlands on Saturday. Fly-half Willem de Waal is set to return from a neck injury against Boland on February 6.
- Worcester centre Greg King has signed a new two-year deal with the Guinness Premiership club.
- Prop Ben Daley will lead Queensland Reds in their opening trial of the season against the Waratahs in Lismore on Saturday. Reds coach Ewen McKenzie has named a 30-man panel for the game, with two different sides set to contest each half.
