Blues lock Anthony Boric hopes that they can right some wrongs against the Waratahs in Sydney on Saturday.

The All Black second-rower has suffered two heavy losses in Sydney during his Super Rugby career, including a 43-9 hammering on debut in 2006. With the Waratahs handily place in the top four and the Blues eager to capitalise on last weekend's victory over the Brumbies, now would be the ideal time for Pat Lam's side to shake off their past problems.

"I don't know why it is really, but for some reason we've played quite poorly over there," Boric said. "It's a real challenge for us to get over there and focus mentally. It's a good start but we know the Waratahs in Sydney is going to require another step up from us."

The Blues have struggled at the lineout this season and with Boric installed as senior lock due to the continued injury problems of Ali Williams he's committed to righting the wrongs at the set-piece.

"That's the big thing we talk about every time it doesn't go well - it's our own errors, just little execution things, and technique and timing," he said. "It's just a matter perhaps of doing a bit of repetition and ironing out those little things to make it how we want it. There's definitely a lot of extra responsibility, but everybody else pitches in and helps out. It's not as if it's just me making the decisions. Everyone is contributing."

Despite their lofty position on the ladder, the Tahs have come in for some stick for their conservative tactics. Fullback Sosene Anesi, a fixture of Waikato and the Chiefs in recent seasons, admitted that it was strange to be booed by home fans but also that their focus was solely on winning.

"It was strange getting booed," he said. "Our captain said it doesn't matter what people are saying about how we're playing. It doesn't matter how you do it, it's all about winning. Our main thing this week is going to be our defence; it's what's been winning us games."
