Stade Francais have been dealt a double blow after falling foul of the authorities, with coach Michael Cheika and fly-half Lionel Beauxis both picking up bans in the wake of their 34-12 defeat to Castres on January 27.

Cheika has been slapped with a 30-day touchline ban after he and assistant Chris Whitaker were called before a Ligue Nationale de Rugby panel after being cited for their behaviour towards the match officials.

Whitaker, the former Australia scrum-half, was cleared, but Cheika will now be forced to sit out forthcoming matches against Brive, Perpignan and Agen.

Beauxis was handed a 20-day ban for a dangerous tackle on Castres playmaker Pierre Bernard. The former France international will be eligible for a return on March 7, meaning that he too will take no part in the league meetings with Brive and Perpignan.
