Scrum-halves Brett Sheehan and James Stannard have signed new contracts to remain with the Western Force until the end of the 2012 season.

The 31-year-old Sheehan moved west from the Waratahs two years ago, having won three caps for Australia, while Stannard's pedigree became apparent during last year's IRB Sevens World Series and Commonwealth Games.

"I've been very impressed with Brett's contribution to the team this year," Force coach Richard Graham said.

"He cares deeply about the team doing well and his combative style adds a unique dimension. I believe he is playing better now than at the time he was selected for the Wallabies."

Sheehan added: "Everyone at the club is on the same page and we are building towards something good here. I can see the direction we want to go and the positive progress we're making. That was why I wanted to stay."
