Munster centre Barry Murphy has been forced to retire due to injury. The 28-year-old, capped four times by Ireland and a veteran of 71 games for Munster, has failed to recover from a metararsal ligament injury in his left foot. "People say to me I've been unlucky and while I appreciate what they mean I don't see it that way," he said. "The past seven-eight years have been a wonderful time in my life, playing with Munster. I've made loads of friends here in this squad, enjoyed some great times and I wouldn't trade a moment of it." Meanwhile, Dragons hooker Duane Goodfield has also been forced to call time on his career, due to a long-standing shoulder problem. The former Cardiff Blues and Wales Under-21 front-rower played only eight games for the Dragons before being struck down by the knock. "I enjoyed my time at the Dragons and I am devastated to have the decision taken away from me," he said. "I'm always used to being in control of challenging situations, but this has been very difficult to deal with." © ESPN Sports Media Ltd.
