Waratahs will be without prop Sekope Kepu and possibly centre Ryan Cross for next weekend's crucial Super Rugby clash with the Bulls in Pretoria.

Both Kepu and Cross succumbed to knee injuries as the Waratahs lost 26-21 to the Sharks in Durban on Saturday. Kepu suffered a medial ligament injury after just 12 minutes while Cross fell badly on his knee after being hit off the ball.

"I think we are probably looking at three to four weeks for Sekope at his stage," Waratahs coach Chris Hickey told AAP. "Ryan Cross's problem isn't quite as severe as Sekope's but I think he would certainly be in doubt for the Bulls game."

Following the loss to the Lions, the Waratahs were displaced from fifth spot by the Sharks with the Bulls and Highlanders still piling on the pressure for the final wildcard place. On the plus side for the Waratahs, Berrick Barnes could be ready to return for the game next Saturday.
