Samoa head into their opening Rugby World Cup clash in Rotorua hoping to maintain their perfect record over Namibia.

The Pool D rivals have met just once before with Samoa running out 40-13 winners in July 2003 in Windhoek, Namibia. Winger Dom Feau'nati scored a hat-trick on his debut in one of only five appearances for Samoa while centre Brian Lima and winger Sailosi Tagicakibau also touched down for the Pacific Islanders. Du Preez Grobler and Wolfie Duvenhage crossed for Namibia.

London Irish winger Tagicakibau, Maurie Faasavalu and Mahonri Schwalger survive from that Samoa side while 34-year-old Hugo Horn is Namibia's sole representative from the 2003 team.
