Schalk Burger will miss South Africa's three-Test series against England in June as he continues his recovery from a knee injury.

The 29-year-old tore medial ligaments as the Stormers took on the Hurricanes in the opening round of Super Rugby in February.

The Springboks face England in the first Test on June 9, but the Stormers have confirmed that Burger will not return to action until after the international break.

He will be joined on the sidelines for the June Tests by powerful No.8 Duane Vermeulen, whose early season form suggested that he would be in contention to feature in Heyneke Meyer's plans.

In positive news for the new Springbok coach, centre Jean de Villiers (wrist), lock Andries Bekker (back) and winger Gio Aplon (hamstring) will all be fit for the Stormers' clash with the Cheetahs next weekend.
