Former All Black Simon Mannix is set to join Munster as their backs coach, subject to being granted a work permit.

Mannix, who won his one cap as fly-half against France in 1994 has signed a two-year contract with the Irish province. He was previously on the coaching team at Racing Metro, but left the club in December last year following five years with the Parisian side.

"We are delighted that Simon has agreed terms and believe his playing experience in two hemispheres plus his coaching experience at the top level in France will complement the recent appointment of Rob Penney and existing position of Anthony Foley," Munster chief executive Garrett Fitzgerald said.

As a player Mannix played for the Hurricanes in New Zealand, before he moved to England where he played for Sale and Gloucester.
