Bath Rugby have completed the signing of Argentina winger Horacio Agulla.

Agulla was lining up for the Tigers last term and Leicester were keen on keeping their star winger but due to the Rugby Championship and the autumn Tests, Agulla would only have been able to play just over half a season. Tigers boss Richard Cockerill cited the limitations of the salary cap as the reason behind why they could not keen Agulla but Bath have clearly deemed the Pumas winger a valuable enough addition despite his international commitments.

Agulla is Bath boss Gary Gold's first signing and he hopes the winger will learn from his experience of playing against some of the world's best in the Rugby Championship.

"We're really excited to have Horacio join Bath Rugby for the new season and are looking forward to him getting stuck into training with the rest of the squad," Gold said. "He's a very good player who is able to play two positions at a high level which brings great diversity and strength in depth to the team.

"We believe his exposure playing for Argentina in the new Rugby Championship format against the All Blacks, South Africa and Australia will further develop him as a player and Bath Rugby can only benefit from that."

Agulla's move is subject to his work permit being approved and he is already eyeing a spot in the starting XV. "Bath play a good brand of rugby that I believe will suit my game and I'm excited to work with the new coaching team," Agulla said. "They have some excellent players in their squad and my first challenge is to get into the side and make that starting shirt my own."
