The Chiefs will be without front-rowers Mahonri Schwalger and Ben Tameifuna for the second match of their South African tour, against the Southern Kings in Port Elizabeth, with extended squad member Michael Kainga in line to make his Super Rugby debut.

Schwalger sustained a knee injury in the loss to the Stormers while Tameifuna is returning home to New Zealand to attend a family funeral.

Hooker Rhys Marshall and Kainga are making their way to South Africa as cover for the duo, with the latter knocking on the door for a place in the 22-man side to play the Kings.

Marshall had an impressive start to his Super Rugby career, playing against the Highlanders and the Cheetahs, while Kainga performed strongly in the pre-season trials.
