Former England prop Andrew Sheridan does not expect a call from British & Irish Lions coach Warren Gatland this week - and could not be happier.

Sheridan helped Toulon book a first-ever Heineken Cup appearance with a 24-12 victory over Saracens at Twickenham on Sunday. His eye-catching display had many pushing his claims for a place in Gatland's squad, that will be announced tomorrow morning, but the in-form 33-year-old has urged selectors to look elsewhere.

"I wish everyone the best but those days are behind me. I'm very happy in the south of France," he told talkSPORT. "It was a great honour to play for the Lions in 2005 and 2009 and I wish them all the best, but my ambitions lie in Toulon.

"Maybe some people will think that isn't being ambitious, but I've had my time and I'm enjoying it in Toulon. There isn't much substance behind the suggestion I might be picked - it's just talk."

Jonny Wilkinson also underlined his credentials with an assured display that included a 21-point haul and his odds of travelling to Australia with the Lions have been slashed. But Sheridan senses his former England team-mate shares a similar outlook.

"Jonny practises relentlessly and he always has done for as long as I've known him," he said. "Quite often when I'm driving away from the ground, there he is practising away. And he does it so that he can deliver the goods in these critical matches.

"You'd have to ask Jonny about the Lions. He's very happy like we all are down in the south of France. Toulon is a great place to live with great supporters and a great way of life. We work hard and it's bit of a misconception that we go around like a bunch of prima donnas. There is no fact to that. People just like to throw out these types of statements. We work hard and enjoy it down there, but we want success as well."
