Former All Blacks flanker Chris Masoe will miss the rest of the French club season after suffering a knee injury while playing for European champions Toulon.

Masoe damaged ligaments in his left knee during a European Cup win over Exeter on December 7 and will undergo surgery, ruling him out of a season which ends in May.

The 34-year-old former Hurricanes representative played 20 Tests up until the 2007 IRB World Cup before signing a contract with French club Castres.
