Saracens have extended veteran fly-half Charlie Hodgson's contract by another year.

Hodgson, 33, joined Sarries in 2011 from Sale and has vied with Owen Farrell for their No.10 shirt.

"It's not public knowledge yet, but I have done the deal for another year," Hodgson told the Daily Mail. "I'm still enjoying the game and I think I have something to contribute. So we will see how it goes. I'm in no rush to retire."

And Hodgson also has Steve Borthwick's appearance total in his sights. Borthwick will run out in his 263rd Aviva Premiership game on Sunday, a new record, but Hodgson, who is some 50 appearances behind the lock, is looking to add to his tally.

"I'm still a few games behind Steve," Hodgson said. "As long as body holds together and I've still got the desire and I want to be competitive. When I think I can't contribute it will be time to walk away from it all."
