The Chiefs have made just one change to their starting side to face the Blues at Eden Park in Auckland on Friday, with Bundee Aki replacing Charlie Ngatai in the centres.

Ngatai misses the match after sustaining a shoulder injury against the Hurricanes last weekend. Chiefs rookie of the year Nathan Harris comes onto the bench, where he is joined by Dwayne Sweeney.

The Chiefs must win if they are to maintain their defence of the Super Rugby title they have won for the past two seasons. The Blues, meanwhile, must beat the back-to-back champions by 38 points while denying them a bonus point to give themselves a fighting chance of making the top six.

Chiefs: Tom Marshall; Asaeli Tikoirotuma, Tim Nanai-Williams, Bundee Aki, James Lowe; Aaron Cruden, Tawera Kerr-Barlow; Liam Squire, Tanerau Latimer, Liam Messam; Brodie Retallick, Mike Fitzgerald; Ben Tameifuna, Mahonri Schwalger, Jamie Mackintosh. Replacements: Nathan Harris, Pauliasi Manu, Nick Barrett, Matt Symons, Tevita Koloamatangi, Augustine Pulu, Gareth Anscombe, Dwayne Sweeney.
