Robbie Coleman returns to the Brumbies' starting side to face the Chiefs in their Super Rugby qualifying final at GIO Stadium in Canberra on Saturday, recovering from a quadriceps injury to replace Clyde Rathbone while the former Wallabies winger drops from the match-day squad.

Coleman and Jesse Mogg are the equal-leading try-scorers for the Brumbies this season, and they have combined with fellow outside backs Henry Speight, Joe Tomane and Pat McCabe to bag 22 tries.

"It was tough watching the boys play so well last week and not being a part of it," Coleman said. "I thought they were outstanding in pretty much everything they did. I'll be looking to build on that momentum this week. I want to be able to add to that performance.

"The last few weeks I've had some issues with my quad and as a result my speed probably hasn't been where it needs to be. That's all resolved now though and I'm looking forward to taking on the Chiefs."

The Brumbies have made only one other change to the squad that dismantled Western Force in Canberra, with rookie prop Allan Alaalatoa included on the bench for the first time. The Australia Under-20 representative replaces JP Smith, and he is line for his Super Rugby debut just one week after his brother Michael debuted for New South Wales Waratahs.

Brumbies: Jesse Mogg; Henry Speight, Tevita Kuridrani, Christian Leali'ifano, Robbie Coleman; Matt Toomua, Nic White; Ben Mowen (captain), Jarrad Butler, Scott Fardy; Leon Power , Sam Carter; Ben Alexander, Josh Mann-Rea , Scott Sio. Replacements: Ruaidhri Murphy, Ruan Smith, Allan Alaalatoa, Fotu Auelua, Tom McVerry, Michael Dowsett, Joe Tomane, Pat McCabe.
