Ledesma's Montpellier exit confirmed

Forwards coach Mario Ledesma has resigned from his position at Montpellier after a poor run of form, the club have announced.

Former Argentine international hooker Ledesma had been at Montpellier since 2012 and had a contract until June 2017. he was capped 84 times over 16 years by Argentina and retired in 2011.

"Forwards coach Mario Ledesma has informed me of his decision to step down from his post with immediate effect," read a statement from club president Mohed Altrad. "This brave decision clearly shows Mario is prepared to shoulder his possible share of responsibility."

Ledesma leaves after a horrible run of form for Montpellier that has seen them slip to 8th in the Top 14 table, while they are winless in the European Champions Cup. the club were expected to challenge for the Top 14 title. As a result, the job of coach Fabien Galthié, seen by many as a potential successor to national coach Philippe Saint-André, is also said to be under threat.
