New Zealand-born Cardiff Blues fly-half Gareth Anscombe is set to be called up by Wales for their Six Nations campaign when Warren Gatland announces his squad on Wednesday.

Two other uncapped players - a back up hooker and Scarlets loosehead prop Rob Evans - are likely to be called up. One of Dragons' Elliot Dee and Ospreys' Sam Parry is likely to fill the hooker berth as a back-up to Richard Hibbard and Scott Baldwin in the absence of Ken Owens and Emyr Phillips.

Anscombe's mother was born in Wales and has impressed in his nine appearances for the Blues since joining from Hamilton-based Chiefs earlier this season he can play at fly-half or full-back. His call-up is likely to see Gloucester back James Hook left out of the squad.

Elsewhere, 33-year-old prop Adam Jones is likely to be recalled, with Scarlets forward Rhodri Jones sidelined due to a shoulder injury.
