All Blacks prop Charlie Faumuina has rejected offers from abroad to sign a new deal keeping him in New Zealand until 2017.

The 28-year-old, who plays both sides of the scrum, was linked in November with a move to French club Racing Metro.

"We know that like many players, Charlie had choices available to him," NZ Rugby chief executive Steve Tew said. "We are delighted he has chosen New Zealand over other options as it helps to anchor the strength of our All Blacks front row and leadership group beyond this year's World Cup,"

As part of the deal the 27-Test All Black will remain with the Blues.

"I have more to give New Zealand Rugby over the next couple of years," Faumuina said, adding that he was motivated by the British and Irish Lions tour in 2017.

Fellow international prop Ben Franks this week signalled he would be moving to London Irish after the World Cup after agreeing a three-year deal with the club.

Meanwhile, Racing Metro are reported to have signed Chiefs prop Ben Tameifuna on a three-year deal.
