England remain hopeful Tom Wood, Geoff Parling, Kyle Eastmond and Brad Barritt will be fit for the start of the Six Nations but all three will sit out training on Wednesday.

Parling and Barritt are nursing knee medial ligament strains while Wood is struggling with an ankle injury. England are also monitoring Eastmond's fitness after he picked up a knock to the shoulder on Sunday. The quarter feature on a burgeoning injury list for England who currently have 12 players sidelined ahead of the Six Nations opener against Wales on February 6.

"Geoff Parling and Brad Barritt are in pretty good shape, we don't expect them to be anything more than a couple of weeks," Lancaster said. "Tom Wood and Kyle Eastmond have got further assessments that will take place in the next 24 hours and we will see where we are after that."

Despite the prognosis of a couple of weeks for Parling and Barritt, Lancaster would not rule them out of the Wales Test but admitted the "clock is ticking". If neither can make training on Sunday then they are likely to miss the match in Cardiff but they are hopeful of making the Test against Italy on February 14. Luther Burrell is expected back in training on Friday having recovered from his concussion.
