Camille Lopez and Teddy Thomas are the most notable names left out of France's 36-man World Cup training squad.

Lopez started four of France's Six Nations matches in February and March before missing out on the finale against England at Twickenham, having come under pressure from club Clermont Auvergne to rest.

Thomas made a blistering start to his international career in November, scoring three tries on debut against Fiji and another try against Australia, but played just twice in the Six Nations.

Montpellier fly-half Francois Trinh-Duc is recalled having recently recovered from a broken leg, while Frederic Michalak will provide competition for the starting spot.

Lock Pascal Pape is also back in the squad after serving a 10-week ban for kneeing Ireland's Jamie Heaslip in the back during their Six Nations encounter in Dublin in February.

Philippe Saint-Andre's squad will play England twice, home and away, in August before completing their World Cup preparations against Scotland on September 5.
