Ireland are now the No.2 team in Test rugby, the Six Nations champions climbing one spot in the World Rugby rankings, their highest spot in history, after their comfortable 35-21 win over Wales in a World Cup warm-up Test in Cardiff.

New Zealand remain top of a list by a substantial margin, despite their defeat by Australia in Sydney, but the rankings below them and Ireland have undergone a shake-up following the unexpected finish to the Rugby Championship.

Australia moved up two spots to third, while South Africa plunged to fifth following their 37-25 loss to Argentina in Durban. The Pumas climbed to seventh, above France and below Wales, while Rugby World Cup hosts England remain steady in fourth place.

World champions New Zealand have held top spot since 2009.
