Grant Gilchrist to skipper Scotland against Italy

Grant Gilchrist will captain Scotland against Italy on Saturday in Rome.

Gilchrist takes over the skipper's armband from Henry Pyrgos in a squad that shows wholesale changes from the team that lost in Dublin to Ireland last weekend. There are 11 changes in total with nine coming in the pack.

Kevin Bryce, Alasdair Dickinson, Richie Gray, Stuart McInally and Willem Nel come in for Fraser Brown, Allan Dell, Ryan Grant, Rob Harley, and Jon Welsh while Adam Ashe, John Hardie, Alasdair Strokosch and Hamish Watson are also called upon.

In the backs uncapped duo Damien Hoyland and Rory Hughes replace Dougie Fife and Tim Visser respectively.
