Conor O'Shea has been confirmed as Italy's new head coach.

O'Shea takes over from Jacques Brunel, whose contract expired at the end of the 2016 Six Nations. O'Shea joins Federazione Italiana Rugby on a deal until 2020, which starts at the end of the current domestic season.

His first task as Italy coach will be to preside over their three-Test June tour which sees them play Argentina, USA and Canada.

He arrives at Italy from Aviva Premiership side Harlequins, the club he joined in March 2010. During his time at Quins he guided them to the Premiership title in 2012, the LV Cup and the European Challenge Cup in 2011.

With Quins currently lying in sixth, he will be hoping to finish his time at the club with a spot in the playoffs while they are also in the Challenge Cup mix.
