England coach Eddie Jones has told Saracens winger Chris Ashton to clean up his act.

Jones, never one to mince his words, has already put four or five England players on notice telling them to improve their form or risk being dropped for their tour of Australia and he was unimpressed by Ashton's conduct in Saracens' win at Bath.

Bath fullback Anthony Watson was shown a red card for tackling Alex Goode in the air and in the resulting fallout, Ashton shoved Watson -- who has since been handed a two-week suspension -- and sent some verbal barbs in his direction. Jones was left unimpressed.

"Anthony Watson made a mistake, didn't he?" Jones said in the Mail on Sunday. "It was one of those difficult situation. Anthony is one of the most gifted players under the high ball, isn't he? And even he makes a mistake. He got penalised, I don't know what he said to the fourth official, but obviously Ashton didn't help either. So he got angry, said something he shouldn't have said to the fourth official and has been penalised.

"I didn't like what Ashton did. I thought it was unsportsmanlike and that is something he needs to get out of his game."

Jones has not contacted Ashton over the incident. "He needs to get selected first," Jones added. "It is not my job to tell him how to behave at Saracens but it will be my job to tell him how to behave here if he gets in the side."

Ashton was recently banned for 10 weeks for an altercation with Ulster's Luke Marshall, a suspension that saw him miss the Six Nations. But since he returned from his ban, Ashton has been in fine form scoring five tries in three games including two in Saracens' win over Harlequins at Wembley on Saturday.
