Tim Horan could miss the next six weeks after suffering ligament damage to his right foot against Argentina at Ballymore on Saturday night.

Horan will visit a specialist in Brisbane on Monday to discover the full extent after initial x-rays following the game revealed the injury, suffered soon after half-time.

Fortunately for the Wallabies, the news was not so bad for John Eales and Stephen Larkham, who both came off against Argentina, but are still in doubt for Saturday's return Test in Canberra.

Eales left the field in the 19th minute with a lower back strain, while Larkham is perhaps even more doubtful after suffering a medial sprain to his right ankle shortly before half-time.

Wallaby officials will also be keeping a keen eye on the recovery of Matt Burke after Stirling Mortlock's dismal performance with the boot at Ballymore.

Mortlock, who was making his Wallaby debut on the wing, missed with five shots at goal and a repeat performance in Canberra on Saturday could put his Test place in doubt. Mortlock was in outstanding form with the boot during the Super 12, but his timing deserted him at the worst possible time in the final against the Crusaders and he is yet to rediscover that touch.

"We do have a problem there," Wallaby coach Rod Macqueen said after the game. "During the Super 12 Stirling averaged something like 75 plus per cent, but he was off the mark today.

"But all is not lost and will do more work on it. He might have been a bit nervous, but his all-round game was very good so we're pleased in that respect.

"We're not 100 per cent sure about Matt Burke. He's probably a week or two out before he can run, so he might still be a few weeks off."

After Chris Latham's superb four-try debut at fullback, Burke's best chance of forcing his way back in the side is on the wing.
