Taylor sees no need for global season
September 7, 2000

Former Wales and British Lions international and scrum.com's chief writer John Taylor has rubbished recent calls to create a global season.

Speaking in his exclusive column he gives his verdict on Francois Pienaar's call for the northern hemisphere to align their season with their southern hemisphere counterparts.

"I have enormous respect for his rugby knowledge and I would like to think we are good friends," he comments, "...which is why I hope he will not take offence when I suggest he is talking a load of nonsense when he champions the concept of a 'Global Season."

But he does see some reason for change, "I believe it is hugely important that we move the Six Nations to the end of the season as soon as possible because then we put our own pyramid in place and we move towards an integrated international season."
