Leeds have agreed a new two-year contract with US Eagles prop Mike MacDonald.

MacDonald was an ever-present in the Leeds team which secured promotion back to the Guinness Premiership last season.

The 26-year-old scored 10 tries in 24 appearances during the triumphant National One campaign - a remarkable return for a front row.

He said: ``I had a great time at Leeds last year and I'm really pleased to have agreed a new two-year deal.

``There is a great team spirit within the squad having gone from rocky beginnings to becoming champions and that will stand us in good stead.

``Like everyone else, we have got a point to prove next season and the new signings have bolstered our squad so I'm looking forward to it.''

MacDonald, who played two matches in the USA's recent Churchill Cup campaign, will link up with Leeds after the World Cup.

Director of rugby Stuart Lancaster said: ``Mike was a key player for us throughout our National One campaign.

``He has proved to be an effective player, not just at scrummaging, but also as a ball carrier and a defender.''
