Theses two sides have met on 45 previous occasions with New Zealand having won 34 matches, France 10 matches, with one drawn fixtures.

Their first clash came at Parc des Princes in Paris in1906 and was won by the tourists 38-8 and their most recent meeting came earlier tis year when New Zealand won their two-Test series 2-0 with a a 42-11 victory at Eden Park in Auckland and a 61-10 triuph at Westpac Stadiumin Wellington.

They have also met three times on the World Cup stage with New Zealand accounting for France 29-9 in the first-ever Rugby World Cup Final in 1987, France winning 42-33 in a memorable semi-final clash at Twickenham in 1999 and New Zealand triumphing 40-13 in the 3rd/4th play-off in Sydney in 2003.
