Lions coach Leon Boshoff has been found not guilty of making racist remarks, but will not continue in his role as forwards coach at the Super 14 team.

The former Lions hooker was suspended last Monday for his comments at a video session in the wake of the 56-18 defeat against the Stormers.

While a disciplinary hearing found him innocent of a racial slur, he will not continue in his role with the team.

The alleged racist comments were reported by Earl Rose, whose father - Enver - subsequently contacted Springbok coach Peter de Villiers for support.

After being cleared of racism, Boshoff was found guilty on the charge of using abusive language and was issued with a written warning.

A statement from the Golden Lions Rugby Union said: "After thorough investigation, the allegations of racial remarks could not be substantiated, and Mr Boshoff was found not guilty.

"In the best interests of the team and the Golden Lions Rugby Union, both parties have agreed to relieve Mr Boshoff from his contractual obligations with immediate effect, and will not be using his services going forward."
